Listen to the article:

If you’ve been scrolling through your feed lately, you’ve probably seen them—those hilarious, oddly specific, and totally creative ChatGPT blister pack action figures. Yep, the trend is all over social media right now, and it’s got everyone from bored students to celebrities jumping on the bandwagon. Heck, even some brands are using them to promote their products. But here’s the twist: not everyone’s eager to upload a photo of themselves just to join the fun. Whether it’s due to privacy concerns or simply wanting to keep your face out of the AI’s hands, there’s good news—you can make one without a photo, just by using prompts.

What’s All the Hype About?

So, what’s the deal with these AI-generated blister pack action figures? Imagine this: a miniature action figure version of yourself—or your alter ego—trapped in classic retro-style packaging. It’s got stats, accessories, catchphrases, maybe even a dramatic backstory. People are getting really creative with it. Some are making superhero versions of themselves, others are turning their pets into space rangers. The appeal is pretty straightforward: it’s fun, personal, and makes for an epic post.

But with fun comes hesitation. A lot of people aren’t thrilled about sharing their face with AI tools. That’s totally fair. If you’re one of those who’d rather keep your face out of the data loop, the prompt-only method is perfect for you. No selfies. No uploads. Just words. Let’s walk through how to do it.

Step 1: Start With a Solid Initial Prompt

The first step is setting the scene. Since you’re not using a photo, your words are everything. the more specific your prompt, the better. Think about how you want the figure to look. Consider the following:

For the Blister Pack Doll:

  • Facial Features – Describe the face (e.g., eye shape, nose, smile, facial hair, ethnicity-specific traits)
  • Hairstyle – Style, length, texture, and color of hair
  • Body Type – (e.g., medium build, athletic, slim)
  • Skin Tone – (e.g., fair, tan, olive, dark)
  • Clothing, Footwear, and Accessories – Specify outfit, shoes, and any items the figure is holding or wearing (e.g., phone, watch, glasses)

For the Blister Pack (Packaging):

  • Background Color and Design – Main color(s), texture, and style (e.g., plain black with neon tech accents)
  • Blister Pack Title and Subtitle – Name of the character or theme, plus optional tagline or subtitle (e.g., “Starter Pack” – “Everyday Tech Hero”)
  • Figure Placement – Use “figure placement” or “doll position” (e.g., centered, slightly offset, dynamic pose)
  • Number and Placement of Accessories – Mention how many accessories and where they are placed inside the packaging (e.g., surrounding the figure, aligned at the bottom, placed to the right)

This gives the AI a clear direction without being vague.

Here’s the prompt I used to create the initial look of the blister pack doll:

“Create a blister pack doll of a medium-built, full-body, smiling Southeast Asian man . He has fair skin and short, clean black hair. He’s wearing a black polo shirt and cream-colored pants, paired with black Onitsuka Tiger shoes featuring white logo stripes. He is holding a smartphone. The background of the blister pack is plain black with bluish-green futuristic accents. The doll is sealed Near the center of the blister, To the Left Are accessories: a laptop, a cup of coffee, and a pair of black Oakley sunglasses. The top of the packaging features the title “Starter Pack.”

Step 2: Adjust and Refine

Once you get the first result, take a moment to study it and make sure your prompt was interpreted correctly. In my case, I was aiming for the doll to closely resemble me, but the generated image didn’t quite match what I had in mind. I tried tweaking it, but I hit the token limit. If that happens to you, just give it a short break before submitting another prompt.

Here’s the prompt I used to make changes to the initial look of the blister pack doll:

“Add a white Bluetooth earbud below the sunglasses. Currently, the doll’s lower body—from the waist down—is slightly shorter than the upper body. Adjust the proportions so that the upper body matches the lower body. Lighten the skin tone slightly. Modify the facial features to resemble someone who is half South East Asian and half Japanese.”

These changes helped a bit, but the result still wasn’t quite right. The proportions were off, and the legs remained slightly shorter than the upper body. I also wanted to fine-tune the facial features to closely resemble me. Luckily, I still had tokens left to make one final round of edits.

Step 3: Final Touches

For the final adjustment, I clarified a few things in the prompt. I asked for a matching Bluetooth earbud to complete the pair, fixed the body proportions, and requested a slight tweak to the facial feature. Most importantly, I emphasized that I wanted the doll to appear as realistic as possible.

“Place a pair of Bluetooth earbuds below the sunglasses instead of just one. Change the hairstyle to a shorter, cleaner cut. Make the legs slightly longer to match the proportions of the upper body, but leave the upper body as is. Make the action figure doll appear as realistic as possible.”

The final image came pretty close to what I had in mind. While I could have made further refinements, I decided to stick with this version as a sample for this article.

Is It As Good As Using a Photo?

Honestly? Not always. It’s definitely a hit-or-miss experience compared to photo-based creations. But the trade-off is worth it if you care about digital privacy or just prefer crafting something entirely from your imagination. Plus, you have way more creative freedom when you’re not limited to what you look like IRL.

So if you’ve been curious but cautious, this is your green light. Fire up ChatGPT, get those prompts ready, and let your imagination run wild.
