Oppo has officially unveiled the Find N5, setting a new benchmark in the foldable smartphone market with its ultra-slim design and advanced features. Measuring just 8.93mm when closed and a mere 4.21mm when opened, the Find N5 stands as the thinnest book-style foldable phone to date. This sleek profile is achieved through the use of premium materials such as carbon fiber and 7000 series aluminum alloy, ensuring both durability and a lightweight feel at 229 grams. Additionally, the Find N5 comes with IPX9 water resistance, offering users added protection against the elements, although specific ratings like IP68 were not disclosed.
The device boasts an 8.12-inch LTPO OLED inner display with a Full HD+ resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, delivering vibrant visuals and smooth scrolling. The cover screen is equally impressive, featuring a 6.62-inch display with a 20.7:9 aspect ratio, providing a bar phone-like experience when folded. Both screens offer a typical brightness of 600 nits, with peak brightness reaching up to 2450 nits on the cover screen and 2100 nits on the inner display, ensuring clarity even under direct sunlight.
Under the hood, the Find N5 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, complemented by 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. This combination promises robust performance for multitasking, gaming, and media consumption. The device runs on ColorOS 15, based on Android 15, and Oppo guarantees four years of operating system updates, ensuring longevity for users.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the triple-camera system co-developed with Hasselblad. It includes a 50-megapixel Sony main sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, offering versatility for various shooting scenarios. The camera setup is housed in a distinctive circular module, adding to the phone’s aesthetic appeal. e Find N5 is equipped with a 5,600mAh silicon-carbon battery, supporting 80W SUPERVOOC wired charging and 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging. This ensures that users can quickly recharge their devices and stay connected throughout the day.
According to The Verge, one of the standout features of the Find N5 is its seamless integration with macOS devices. Through the O Plus Connect app, users can wirelessly transfer files and even mirror their Mac’s display onto the phone. This functionality transforms the foldable into a miniature laptop, complete with keyboard and trackpad capabilities, bridging the gap between Android and Apple ecosystems. Priced at approximately $1,867 USD, the Find N5 is set to be available across Europe and Asia, with a confirmed release date of February 28th in Singapore. However, there are no plans for a U.S. release under the OnePlus brand.
The launch of the Find N5 underscores the growing trend of foldable smartphones in the industry. Brands like Samsung, Huawei, and Honor have also introduced foldable devices, each bringing unique innovations to the market. Oppo’s emphasis on ultra-slim design and cross-platform functionality highlights the company’s commitment to pushing technological boundaries. As foldable technology becomes more refined and accessible, it is poised to redefine user experiences and set new standards in mobile for mobile phones.
